(1) The piers and columns are rigidly connected, and the beams are
unloaded due to the bending resistance of the piers. The whole
system is a compression-bending structure and also has a thrust
structure.
(2) The clearance under the bridge of the steel truss bridge is
larger than that of the arch bridge, and a smaller span can be
constructed under the same clearance requirements.
